Portfolio of Graphic Designer, Illustrator and Fine Artist Jennifer Erickson, including work for Bunnies by the Bay and the Skagit Valley Tulip Festival

Jennifer's talent for drawing and painting emerged when she was a child. Her first published piece was a ball point pen drawing, in the local newspaper at age five. She cleverly scribbled over a mistake and titled the piece Meatball Rolling across a Bridge. She saw a delicious future.

Jennifer started college at seventeen with a grant from Western Illinois University. She continued on to the Art Institute of Chicago, and later studied watercolor under the renowned Irving Shapiro at The American Academy of Art in Chicago. She graduated from the Academy with a degree in Illustration, after receiving the Union League Scholarship.

She loves painting stories of people and animals through portraiture. Jennifer enjoys watercolor because she says, "it's a consistent challenge".

Jennifer's contributions, as an illustrator, at Bunnies By the Bay led to the publication of her first in a series of children's books, Why Does Skipit Like To Sniff? She's spent most of her career as an independent Illustrator and Graphic Designer.

She was awarded the Pinnacle Gold Award, for the Skagit Valley Tulip Festival Poster Design, by International Festival of Events Association. And the Wilmer Shields Rich, Gold Award for the Whatcom Community Foundation Annual Report.

Her broad personal collection of children's books includes Dr. Seuss, David Wiesner, and Chris Van Allsburg. Jennifer grew up on a healthy dose of Looney Tunes and Merrie Melodies. Now her sons have shown her the joy in Sponge Bob and Wallace & Gromit.

She lives in Anacortes, Washington with her two sons and their ever-loyal dog, Shadow. Her children inspire and amuse her daily.
